The africrops! GmbH Berlin is the competent German supplier of fairly traded and sustainably produced plant products from Africa. africrops! is a specialist in the production and marketing of products from the moringa plant (moringa oleifera), serving both end users as well as resellers and manufacturers. The countries of origin of moringa are Tanzania, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Malawi, where africrops! is also pursuing development objectives.
With the brands "The Essence of Africa" and "Mo’ringa" africrops! provides the German consumer market with quality Moringa products. The range includes moringa leaf powder, moringa flowers and leaves, as well as high quality moringa oils.
The products of the brand "The Essence of Africa" are aimed at health-conscious, enlightened audiences, who are looking for alternatives to traditional nutritional supplements, as well as fans of raw and natural food, green smoothie lovers and especially vegans and vegetarians. Distribution is done through organic food-, organic- and vegan retailers, vegan web portals and via africrops!’s own web shop, www.theessenceofafrica.com.
The philosophy behind africrops! is "Trade instead of aid" – fair trade on equal footing The integration of disadvantaged groups into the economic processes and participation in market activities on an equal footing is an important concern of africrops!. The implementation of fair trade criteria is the measure of all things. africrops! operates a pilot farm in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania) for moringa to be tested on new cultivation and processing methods with the cooperation of local partners. The know-how is shared with other partners in the country. Moreover africrops! engages in various developmental projects in Tanzania and Malawi, as well as in public-private partnerships in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation, GIZ.
africrops! GmbH, founded in 2013, is led by Dr. Heinrich Heinrichs, Meinolf Kuper and Dr. Andreas Wesselmann. The company’s headquarter is located in Berlin. The three managing directors can each draw on over 20 years of experience in development cooperation. The biochemical and physiological expertise of the founders completes the profile of africrops! GmbH and has established their reputation as skilled providers of plant products from Africa.
