iMOVE at summit "Skill Enterprise Engagement for Empowering Kerala" in India

The Kerala State Government held its national level business summit SEEK'13 (Skill Enterprise Engagement for Empowering Kerala) from 5 to 6 November 2013 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.

The summit was inaugurated by Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala, and presided over by P.K. Abdu Rabb, Minister for Education of the Government of Kerala.

The SEEK'13 aimed at chanelising the experts of the education industry, legislators as well as training and assessment service providers for creating a skill development regime for the State. The event was organised by the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) in association with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC).

The SEEK'13 provided a platform to engage, converge and generate new partnerships in skill space through its business, technical and knowledge sharing sessions. The summit resulted in valuable strategic alliances with the potential to open up new and innovative avenues for fulfilling the aspirations of the youth in Kerala. 

Various stake holders in the skill arena have joined hands with ASAP to carve a skilled workforce who will function as the economic spine for development. MoUs were signed between the Government of Kerala and the Institute of Palliative Medicine, the Gems and Jewellery Sector Skill Council, the Telecom Sector Skill Council and the Agriculture Sector Council of India.

Through the skill programmes that evolved from SEEK'13, ASAP pertains to create a vibrant skilling and training eco-system in Kerala.

On the second day of the summit, NSDC's country partners were invited to give presentations on international collaboration in vocational education and training. Representatives of various countries, such as Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and Germany, were present. 

Anjali Sinha, iMOVE Office India, introduced Germany's dual system of vocational education and training and presented iMOVE's services in India and across the globe.
