Apprenticeship placement exchange goes mobile

The Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) apprenticeship placement exchange now features also a mobile app. Vacant apprenticeship placements can now be searched using a smartphone.

After downloading the app, young people can quickly and easily browse information regarding thousands of vacant apprenticeship placements nationwide. Waiting times, such as the bus ride home from school, now can be used for searching for an apprenticeship placement.

"After the IHK apprenticeship placement exchange met with such excellent response on part of young people and member businesses alike, we now want to offer also a comprehensive tool for mobile utilisation of the service", says Achim Dercks, Deputy Managing Director of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK).

Version 1.0 provides all the basic functions of the IHK apprenticeship placement exchange: search for apprenticeship placement offers, watch list, occupational orientation service according to interests and profile descriptions of occupations. Other features, such as the creation of a personal profile and synchronisation with the IHK Lehrstellenbörse (apprenticeship placement exchange) homepage are soon to follow.

Then, users will be able to receive notifications regarding new apprenticeship placements that match their individual search criteria. When choosing an occupation, young people often involve their friends and parents. With this new app, they can easily share information regarding occupations and interesting offers by way of social networks, text messages or email.
