Special Focus: iMOVE initiates discussion forum on dual studies export

Dual studies as a combination of academic studies and vocational training enjoy great popularity in Germany, where only the best candidates are being accepted. Universities co-operate with companies in order to provide theoretical and practical competences which are in line with the requirements of the industry.

But dual studies could also be a model for international co-operation. The attractiveness of a vocational training certificate can be easily enhanced when offered in combination with an academic degree. Especially for young people who aim at graduating from a university or a college but are also qualified for vocational training measures, dual studies can be a proper alternative. They offer a great opportunity for participants to increase their employability.

More and more German training providers offer training schemes which are designed to augment university or college lessons with technical know-how. In order to provide a platform for sharing information on this important educational trend, iMOVE recently invited German training providers to discuss the potential and the perspectives of dual studies in the international context. Success stories were presented which portrayed international dual studies pilot projects and the results which have so far been achieved.
