Young people's future

The working group "Jugendberufsagentur in Berlin umsetzen?" (Implementing a youth job agency in Berlin?) has inherently spoken out in favour of the model of a youth job agency.

Education Senator Sandra Scheeres thanked all members of the working group and highlighted: "We want to provide young people with a place to go to for all questions pertaining to the transition from school to professional life. The model of a youth job agency provides an answer to attractive and clear consultancy, which school students need in the transition phase. The youth job agency as a concept is not meant to create new administrative structures, but rather to regionally merge advice processes from job centres, employment agencies, youth counselling, university course guidance centres and school counselling in a customer-friendly manner and to regulate these via co-operation agreements."

Work Senator Dilek Kolat: "Our goal is to no longer lose young people in this process and to be able to provide all appropriate offers from a single source. With the youth job agency, we will provide young people with a one-stop-shop for all questions regarding their occupational future. We will thus prevent young people from ending-up going from one advice centre to the next without clear guidance. Now we will launch the concrete implementation in the districts."

In the future, the destination of school graduates in Berlin as well as the subsequent planning of measures are to be carried out in a more targeted manner on a regional and supraregional level, so that these measures can also be made more reflective of the skilled labour demand in Berlin. To this end, co-operation with the industry will be firmly made part of the steering committees' work.
