Twelve young skilled workers receive scholarships

Federal funding for best-performing trainees.

Twelve young women and men have been specially recognised by the East Thuringia Chamber of Commerce and Industry for top examination performances in training occupations such as mechatronics technician, biological laboratory technician, milling machine operator, architectural draughtsman, and management assistant.

They will now be rewarded with a three-year continuing training scholarship with a total value of up to €7,200. All the young people concerned displayed visible pride as they received celebratory flowers and a special certificate from the Federal Ministry of Research. "This scholarship recognises great levels of performance during vocational education and training. However, it also shows appreciation of the good training provided by the companies," stressed Wieland Huß from the chamber of commerce and industry.

Mr. Huß encouraged the young women and men to embark upon the next stage of their professional career. Practice-related and nationally-recognised continuing training leading to a chamber of commerce and industry qualification would, for example, open up further opportunities.

Since 1991, more than 800 young skilled workers have received support from the East Thuringia Chamber of Commerce and Industry via a cooperation agreement with the "Training Support for Gifted Pupils" Foundation.

The "Training Support for Gifted Pupils" funding programme was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It helps talented and motivated career entrants to pursue further development within their chosen occupation, to acquire new competencies and skills, and also to broaden their horizons by taking part in interdisciplinary continuing training programmes.
