German Chancellor Merkel und Brazilian President Lula announce German-Brazilian Year of Science, Technology and Innovation to start in Brazil in April 2010
For more than 40 years Brazil has been an important partner of Germany in the field of science, education and research. The close cooperation of the two countries is to be intensified in the future. In Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel und Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva have recently announced the German-Brazilian Year of Science, Technology and Innovation to start in Brazil in April 2010. Organisations from the science and education sector are welcome to participate in the event.
"The most pressing challenges of the future can only be met in cooperation with international partners", said Annette Schavan, German Federal Minister of Education and Research on the occasion of the agreement. "Questions concerning the global climate change as well as the strenthening of innovation and economic growth shall be addressed in a joint effort."
