On April 29th and 30thiMOVE held the first British-German seminar on export of education and training. The bilateral event in Bonn was organised in cooperation with the British government organisations UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and TVET UK.
The seminar offered the participating British and German providers of education and training a unique opportunity to share their international experience and explore possibilities of future collaborative projects. It further enabled an exchange of good practice and ideas between iMOVE and its British counterpart TVET UK and UKTI's Education and Skills Sector.
During the seminar, the British and German education and training providers exchanged their opinions on national differences and corresponding competitive advantages in international markets. The directors of iMOVE and TVET UK, Sabine Gummersbach-Majoroh and Alan McArthur, presented the aims and activities of the two organisations. Richard Parry, Head of the UKTI Education and Skills Sector, explained the role of UKTI in supporting the work of TVET UK through UKTI's worldwide network.
The case study reports by British and German training providers enabled seminar participants to compare different practical examples of strategic planning and implementation of training programmes in international markets. After each report, questions from the audience were answered and opinions on specific issues exchanged.
All involved parties agreed that cooperation possibilities between British and German training providers definitely exist. The event itself served as a networking opportunity for the participating education and training providers as well as for UKTI, TVET UK and iMOVE. The possibility of a reciprocal seminar in the UK was addressed. So was the possibility of TVET UK's and iMOVE's joint promotions and joint missions in certain markets.
