The University of Applied Sciences Südwestfalen and Siemens Professional Education (SPE) offer integrated qualification for future information technology specialists. The four-year programme prepares young people for a wide range of employment opportunities in the IT sector.
The training consists of three components: training-on-the-job in an IT company, seminars in SPE’s training centre and university studies at the University of Südwestfalen in Meschede. All three components are inter-coordinated and can be supplemented by additional English and further IT certificates. After three years, the students receive their apprenticeship certificate, followed by the Bachelor Degree of Engineering after another year.
Student Stephan Tesch is content with the programme, "I find the combination of theory at the University and at SPE on the one hand and the practical experience on the other hand to be very thrilling. The contents of the university studies are well coordinated with the practical experiences, so that I can apply what I have learned immediately."
The programme focuses on the management of IT systems and includes training in different computer languages, network management and several operating systems such as Windows, Unix and Linux. Students acquire basic knowledge in mathematics and physics as well as in-depth skills in electronics and information technology. At a later programme stage, students can specialise on different fields of communication technology, such as Wireless LAN, mobile communications, multimedia, digital TV, radio or navigation.
