Bethel proWerk, a subsidiary of the Bielefeld-based Bethel Foundation, starts a project to train handicapped individuals in different areas of nature protection and landscape conversion.
The project is unique in Germany and aims to enhance the chances of handicapped persons to enter the job market out of the sheltered workshop. To this end, Bethel proWerk plans to establish a permanent training and work section for up to 16 handicapped persons after a pilot phase of two years.
All training courses within the project follow the common curriculum for certified nature and landscape conservationists. The project is being run in cooperation with the biological department of the contiguous region of Paderborn-Senne and with the environment bureau of the city of Bielefeld.
