Trainees of the Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG provide an interesting insight into their various occupations and receive concrete support for their career planning.
On the occasion of the so-called Vocational Training Day at the company Heidelberger in Amstetten, a specialised producer of printing units, the trainees of the company offer visitors on-site demonstrations of their tasks and duties. At the same time, they also received information.
Professor Norbert Rohbeck, Dean of the University at Ulm, advised his young audience to analyse their career prospects and to pursue strategies for personal growth. He pointed out how vocational training can serve as a basis for university studies and lead to a bachelor or master degree. The in-depth knowledge of production processes and complicated control technology are important prerequisites for engineers.
Heidelberger's human resources manager Bernd Huss emphasised that his company offers financial support for Heidelberger trainees who pursue a bachelor degree. Presently Heidelberger trains 100 young people at its Amstetten location, ten per cent of which pursue a bachelor degree in engineering. Vocational trainings range from foundry technician and technical former to technician for electronic automation.
