Anyone who has gained vocational qualifications abroad and would like to work in Germany can have these qualifications evaluated with regard to their equivalence to German qualifications.
The recognition of vocational qualifications means the evaluation of and – in the event of a positive decision – confirmation of the equivalence of the foreign vocational qualifications with German qualifications. A formal procedure takes place to consider whether training was equivalent to training in Germany and whether the qualifications can be recognized.
The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) is operating the portal on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The portal is funded through the Integration Through Qualification (IQ) programme with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Employment Agency.
