"Once again, the innovative orientation of the vocational education and training centre at the Kiel Canal illustrates how closely the vocational education and training system follows the social and economic developments of our time." These were the words of Federal State Education Minister Prof. Dr Waltraud Wende during the opening ceremony for the Vocational Grammar School "Renewable Energies" in Rendsburg.
"The energy transition is more than a political topic. It is part of a holistic social process and it deals with more than the solution of technical problems in the generation of energy and economic issues as regards energy consumption. This is about the lifestyle of every single individual", said the minister. Here, education plays an important part, for "what young people learn today, we all profit from tomorrow."
Wende praised the close cooperation between the various stakeholders in establishing the new branch of the vocational training centre. With their joint efforts, enterprises, the Chamber of Agriculture, the local and district authorities and, last but not least, the teachers and students at the vocational training centre implemented the project, "this is positive energy, too."
