WorldSkills Leipzig: Didacta organises exhibition at occupational world championship

Here, the most elegant welded seams and the most precise clearance count: the world championship of professional skills will take place in Leipzig from July 2-7, 2013.

 

During the first world skills championship to be held in Germany in 40 years, the best young skilled workers under the age of 23 compete for medals in 45 official disciplines.

 

More than 1,000 competitors make the WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 the largest international trade competition of all times. The event is hosted by a different country each year: in 2009, the WorldSkills took place in Canada, in 2011 they were hosted by Great Britain.

 

The exciting competitions make you want to learn a skill - be it a traditional trade or a new discipline, whether as a cook, a mechatronics expert, or a web designer.

 

This gigantic event is a meeting place for international specialists from the fields of vocational education, industry and government. Their aim is to continue improving standards in vocational education. That is the goal to which they subscribe and for which they share experiences. The WorldSkills Competition is the flagship event of WorldSkills International, a membership network currently comprising 61 countries and regions.

 

In Leipzig, visitors will encounter a festival of vocational education and training. For young people this is a unique opportunity for giving themselves a go at the workbench or at the computer. Moreover, they can receive counselling regarding their choice of occupation and plan their career.

 

Trade visitors likewise can look forward to a unique programme at the WorldSkills Leipzig 2013: in conferences, seminars and special symposia experts discuss the future of vocational education and training, whilst enterprises use the industry meeting venue to present their know-how and establish business contacts.
