First AHK Academy in China officially opened

Maximilian Butek, Chief Representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Shanghai, Yang Jinbao, Director of Jiangsu Occupational Skill Testing Centre, Zhu Zheng, Director of Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security, and Wang Xiangyuan, Secretary of the Taicang Municipal Party Committee, attended the ceremony.

The AHK Academy in Taicang was jointly established by the Taicang government and AHK Greater China. The academy aims to promote the innovative integration of AHK's training and certification system, the manufacturing industry and dual education in Taicang and to support vocational education and training in Yangtze Delta region and even the whole country.

In the initial phase, the academy will offer short-term training in VDE electrical safety, MPS and pneumatics/electropneumatics as well as AEVO and examiner training to employees and trainers from German companies in China and teachers and students from vocational schools.

In his speech, Maximilian Butek said that AHK Greater China has been committed to promoting bilateral trade for 30 years. The city of Taicang plays a particularly important role in this. The establishment of the AHK Academy opens a new chapter for the cooperation. He is convinced that the AHK Academy can change vocational training in China to a certain extent and looks forward to its impact in the coming years.

At the ceremony, eight employees from German companies who already hold AHK training certificates also received the technician certificates according to the Chinese National Vocational Skill Level initiated by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

AHK-certificates are recognised and valued by German companies throughout China.  From August 2022, holders of AHK certificates for mechatronics technicians and six other professions can be recognised as "technicians" in China.
