Contact point in China: tell us about your company!

Leou is a company established by Chinese and German experts and is focused on international cooperation in German-Chinese vocational education and training (VET).

Many of our colleagues have over 20 years of professional experience in vocational training and continuing education in China and were involved in the founding of two Chinese training companies which are listed on NASDAQ.

Our national business network enables us to work together throughout China with vocational schools, VET institutes, companies and local governments.

This cooperation extends to all aspects of vocational education and training including professional development, certifying stages of professional development, teacher training, the organisation of vocational training, the examination of professional qualifications as well as German-Chinese cooperation in the running of schools.

Contact point in China: how did you become aware of the iMOVE contact point in China?

We read about the iMOVE services online in 2020 and then contacted the iMOVE contact point in China directly.

In June 2020 we saw an information event advertised by iMOVE on the WeChat platform and registered for it. We gained a lot of useful information from this event.

To date, we have successfully posted a large number of requests for cooperation on the iMOVE-B2B cooperation platform and have also received a lot of positive feedback from Germany.

Through iMOVE, we have been successful in getting to know many high calibre German partners such as Cognos, WBS, TÜV Rheinland and others.

We have already begun a number of cooperation partnerships in the provinces of Hunan, Zhejiang, Shanghai and Hainan and are supporting projects and almost 20 provinces across China.

Contact point in China: how would you assess cooperation with German partners?

German vocational education and training is well known across the world and enjoys an excellent reputation in the Chinese training and education sector. We are also very pleased to be working with German training partners.

In the case of international projects, cultural differences can have an impact to some extent on the cooperation. Leou has a very good understanding of the specific features of VET in China, and we are therefore able to advise our German partners very effectively. We also have great faith in the development of German-Chinese cooperation in vocational education and training going forward.

For example, the requirements of Chinese institutions in terms of cooperation vary widely. In this case, the hope is that we and the German partners are able to maintain an appropriate degree of flexibility in the cooperation.

Due to the pandemic, travel is restricted. We are also seeking to improve the efficiency of communication using new media technologies.

Contact point in China: what does the next step look like for Leou in the cooperation with German training partners?

There are two aspects to the focus of our strategic development for 2022.

Nationally we are encouraging participation in a training project on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Education. Numerous schools and institutes in China are involved in this cooperation. Through this we are also promoting cooperation with our German partners as well as the introduction of our training products in China.

Together with the relevant training and business authorities in China and Germany and also our education and training partners, we will be holding a summit on German-Chinese cooperation in VET at our headquarters in Hunan province.

Training products and experience of training in China and Germany will be discussed at this forum. Cooperation in vocational education and training in Central and South China will be presented from Hunan province.
