Skilled crafts and trades honour 67 "high achievers"

Recognition for the best trainees in Stuttgart.

A total of 67 graduates of dual training in a skilled craft trade occupation received an award for their outstanding examination performances. The top performers, this year referred to as "peak performers", have established an important foundation for their own career development.

"There is now nothing to prevent them climbing up the career ladder," emphasised Rainer Reichhold, President of the Chamber of Crafts and Trades for the Stuttgart region.

The upcoming elite among the journeyman are the sought-after skilled workers of tomorrow and possibly the entrepreneurs of the future. The award ceremony for the best graduates in the Stuttgart region took place in the forum of the Chamber of Crafts and Trades for the region of Stuttgart.

As part of the ceremony, the young skilled tradespeople from 67 occupations were presented with a certificate by Chamber President Rainer Reichhold. "The range of fascinating activities is impressive in its own right and underlines the significance of the 'economic power next door', which is how the sector refers to itself," said Reichhold. Less well-known occupations such as agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics engineer, vessel and equipment constructor, and road builder had their moment in the spotlight, thus highlighting their huge importance to the economy.

Numerous examples once again showed that young women are also able to perform well in traditionally "male domains". For example, the best parquet layer was Valerie Wenzl from Sachsenheim. Adriana Sutic from Stuttgart took the lead among the tile and mosaic layers. Lena Strobel from Ludwigsburg prevailed among the glaziers and Sina Horlacher from Geislingen is the best chimney sweep in the Chamber's district.

The ceremony was also testament to the enthusiasm and commitment of the upcoming generation. Reichhold commented, "When I look at these examination results, I am not at all worried for the future of our companies". "These will certainly lead to plenty of success stories," he added with conviction.

"Commitment, readiness to work and spirit pay off when it comes to training. The consolidation of dual training is absolutely essential, particularly now where there are many vacant training positions in companies and in view of the shortage of skilled workers." Reichhold also thanked the training companies, the trainers and the vocational school teachers for supporting their trainees. "A good network helps to focus on training, to address challenges in a disciplined manner, and to master every step with creativity. This deserves our full recognition."

For anybody already seeking an apprenticeship for 2019, the apprenticeship exchange of the Chamber of Crafts and Trades is definitely the right place. The Chamber president also recommended completing placements beforehand - these can also be found via this exchange.
