UNIDO, Festo Didactic formalize a partnership to advance skills development in the New Industrial Revolution era

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Festo Didactic have formalized their long-lasting collaboration to advance demand driven industrial skills in developing countries and countries in transition.

A Joint Declaration to this effect was signed in Hannover today by LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO, and Board Member Enrico Rühle and Vice Executive President Global Education Nader Imani of Festo Didactic. The signing took place on the margins of Hannover Messe.

The partnership leverages Festo Didactic’s expertise in industrial manufacturing and process automation and especially the company’s innovative products in the New Industrial Revolution era, such as Mechatronics Learning Systems, the Cyber-Physical Learning Factory or the Industry 4.0 Skills & Qualification Programme, which arose in UNIDO’s technical cooperation projects benefiting UNIDO's member states.

"By working together, we can ensure that both partners meet the demand driven industrial skills needs now and in the future." said Director General LI Yong.

"We are delighted to be continuing our partnership which is supporting and inspiring the young people of tomorrow." said Festo Didactic's Enrico Rühle.

"Having access to relevant, innovative and demand driven skills programmes is vital to ensure youth everywhere can create a successful future," said Nader Imani from Festo Didactic.

Currently, joint projects are being implemented in Uruguay and Morocco, with expansion to other countries planned. In Uruguay, the partners have established a Center of Agro-Industrial Modular of Excellence that promotes socio-economic development by improving the productivity and competitiveness of the country's agri-business sector through transfer of knowledge and development of manufacturing capabilities

In Morocco, the partnership between UNIDO, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), EON Reality, called H2O Maghreb has established a training hub that is using today's best practices in industrial water management.

Furthermore, Festo Didactic is one of the founding members of the Learning and Knowledge Development Facility
